A House is a Hotel is a House

With House Hotel opening its doors in April Istanbul is on his way to become the Boutique Hotel Superpower! Redesigned by Turkish Über-Label Autobahn this will be a must on every design aficionados itinerary. With a style reminiscent of “A Single Man”… all they need to do is replace the Prada groundfloor store with Tom Ford… and the stage is set.

Note to self: I really need to visit Istanbul.

The Ruins of Motor City

Detroit might have suffered more from the economical crisis than any other US city. French photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre created a beautiful book “documenting” the visual decay of former glorious industrial landmarks.

Ruins are the visible symbols and landmarks of our societies and their changes, small pieces of history in suspension. The state of ruin is temporary by nature, the volatile result of the end of an era and the fall of empires. This fragility, the time elapsed but even so running fast, lead us to watch them one very last time: being dismayed, or admiring, wondering about the permanence of things. Photography appeared to us as a modest way to keep a little bit of this ephemeral state.
